Public Speaking (2/22/2026)
This month's class was a focus on building the skill of public speaking and was hosted by Alabama State University. ASU let us use a private dining room in the Fred Shuttlesworth Commons for our classroom and served us dinner at the end of class. Huge thank you to them for being so hospitable to our students. We were also so glad that Miss ASU, Sydney Morgan Guy, and the SGA President, Dejuan Trotman, were able to spend a little time with our students and talk about why they

Zoom Class (1/24/2025)
Due to the crazy weather and threat of icy roads, we had our very first virtual LINC class. Thankfully most of the students were able to zoom in and stay safe and warm inside their homes. We hate not being able to meet in person, give the students time to network with our great speakers, and have dinner together, but luckily this class was focused on taking the next steps for the service project and that was easily accomplished online. Christmas Party!
Thanks to an incredible gift from County Commissioner Doug Singleton, we were able to have our first annual LINC Christmas Party! It was so great to have the students gather together and get to know each other outside of our class days. Our party was hosted by Montgomery Whitewater, so the students were able to eat and play games in their conference room, go ice skating at the rink they have set up all winter, and roast marshmallows at the bonfires by the rink. Economic Development Day (11/16/2025)
Class Day #3, hosted by AUM, was a great day with lots of group work for the students to get to know each other better. A huge thanks to Dr. Rhea Ingram, an award-winning marketing professor at AUM, for hosting the class day at their college of business and providing dinner through her program. She also welcomed our students to campus and gave her insight on what makes AUM a special place. After Dr. Ingram spoke, we wanted to open the class with a fun debate to get warmed up

Finding Your Calling (10/26/2025)
Class Day #2 was hosted by Huntingdon College and was focused on the students taking steps to find their calling. The class was opened up with a presentation by Dr. Anthony Leigh, the president of Huntingdon College. He shared why he believed Huntingdon is a special place and answered questions by the students. After he finished, Huntingdon's student president, DeJon Gibby (a JAG High School Alum), was able to share his experience and the decision he made to attend a local co

Leadership Essentials (09/28/2025)
Class Day #1 has been completed and was a great success! This class day was hosted by River Region United Way and was held in their new building off South Perry Street. The students brought their parents to the first hour of class so we could spend some time congratulating everyone and doing a quick orientation into how LINC MGM started and what the students will experience this year. After the parents were dismissed, our speaker, Joel Hughes (Troy Continuing Education and O
